We did our part to help the azaleas on Gregory Bald stay healthy… it’s all a matter of pretending you’re eating something like a small, watery apple… not a fungus. Yum yum!

Wild Hogs Enjoying the Azaleas!

This is a sight not many people get to see — or have the courage to photograph!
Be amazed at this photo of wild hogs hiking on Gregorys Bald by Steve Roark, Dawn Roark’s husband. Dawn manages our Cades Cove and Townsend stores.

In June, at least, nothing compares to Gregory Bald when the flame azaleas are in bloom! Ten acres of gorgeous flowers, a cool breeze, and a view over Cades Cove… what more could you want?

Azaleas and Rhododendron Blooming

The azaleas on Gregory Bald are outstanding right now. They should continue to show good blooms for another week. The rosebay (white) rhododendron on Parson Branch Road is so profuse its almost off the scale. You have to see it to believe it. Really.

Hemlock Wooly Adelgids Swarm on Mt. LeConte

Here’s what a swarm of those merciless, tree-murdering hemlock wooly adelgids looks like (when they are lying dead in a sandbox on Mt. LeConte). Disgusting, and yet, the good news is that these are dead.
