It’s great to see such a wonderful animal on display. Opossums are misunderstood and thought of as being mean and nasty, but the truth is, they are very docile, non-agressive animals that just want to be left alone. The only time they bite is when they are cornered or feel threatened. They clean themselves by licking their hands and rubbing their fur. They eat bugs and mice and decaying matter, and they are known by the educated as nature’s little vacuum cleaners. Let’s give them a brake!
Opossums are absolutely wonderful animals and very misunderstood. I’ve worked with them for over 21 years and they’re the most fascinating and gentle of the wildlife. It’s so nice to see these mammals in our educational programs.
